WWLoc method of locating a geographical site

  • Specifically, I need a location on a map of Novaya Zemlya (RUSSIA) the following location: WWLoc LQ61em


  • I was sure that the location is that of an island (Kosova Island?)in the Archipelago of Novaya Zemlaya. So the fact your location is off the coast is quite as expected. Thanks for a fine answer.


  • Dear ed0916, I have used WW LOC, a small programm for translating WWLoc data into standard geographic coordinates. The result is that LQ61em equals the following geographic position: 52 22' 30" East 71 31' 15" North For your covenience, I have marked the approximate position of those coordinates on a map of Novaya Zemlya with a red circle: http://home.foni.net/~scrippor/nz.jpg You will notice that the point is not located on the island Novaya Zemlya itself, but before its coast.
