  • My daughter is 4 years old and loooves her Daddy. He had to go away for work for a week and he will be back in a couple of days. She wants to make a "Welcome Home" picture for him. I thought it would be nice to add a little poem on it, and let her draw & color all around it. Where can I find a really nice poem that I could use? Like it's from her? She's only 4 so it has to be from a young child to her Daddy :)

  • "A father is a guy who has snapshots in his wallet
where his money used to be."
    ~Author Unknown.~

"I cannot think of any need for a daughter
as strong as the need for a father's protection."
    ~Sigmund Freud (1856-1939)~

"A Man's Daughter and his garden both reflect the
amount of weeding done during the growing season."
    ~Author Unknown~

"The greatest gift I ever had
Came from God, and I call him Dad!"
    ~Author Unknown~

"Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad."
    ~Author Unknown~

Certain is it that there is no kind of affection so purely angelic as of a father to a daughter. In love to our wives there is desire; to our sons, ambition; but to our daughters there is something which there are no words to express. ~Joseph Addison

A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart. ~Author Unknown

A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future. ~Author Unknown

Many a man wishes he were strong enough to tear a telephone book in half - especially if he has a teenage daughter. ~Guy Lombardo

There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself. ~John Gregory Brown

The father of a daughter is nothing but a high-class hostage. A father turns a stony face to his sons, berates them, shakes his antlers, paws the ground, snorts, runs them off into the underbrush, but when his daughter puts her arm over his shoulder and says, "Daddy, I need to ask you something," he is a pat of butter in a hot frying pan. ~Garrison Keillor

A father is available to help his daughter balance both her love and her anger toward her mother, to moderate the inevitable emotional extremes in the intense mother-daughter equation. With Daddy's steadying influence daughters can learn to be comfortable with healthy anger, rather than feeling that they must be eternal good girls who must at all costs conceal it. ~Victoria Secunda

A father... knows exactly what those boys at the mall have in their depraved little minds because he once owned such a depraved little mind himself. In fact, if he thinks enough about the plans that he used to have for young girls, the father not only will support his wife in keeping their daughter home but he might even run over to the mall and have a few of those boys arrested. ~Bill Cosby

  • I'm small and love my Daddy,
He makes me feel so bright,
And when I see him smiling at me,
    I suddenly loose sight,

    My Daddy is the dearest,
    The dearest dad around,
Even if he doesn't like it,
He'll twirl with me to the ground.

Oh, yay, my daddy's finally home.
    I've waited for so long,
For him to visit me again,
    So we'd explore and roam.

Of course, I'll wait all seasons.
    For my dad to come.
It only helps me get through the pain,
When I remember how we used to play,
    and sing Dun-de-dum.

  • A little girl needs Daddy
    For many, many things:
Like holding her high off the ground
    Where the sunlight sings!
    Like being the deep music
That tells her all is right
    When she awakens frantic with
    The terrors of the night.

    Like being the great mountain
    That rises in her heart
And shows her how she might get home
    When all else falls apart.

    Like giving her the love
That is her sea and air,
So diving deep or soaring high
She'll always find him there. ♥
