  • OK Cape May, atlantic and ocean counties in NJ..( Sea Isle City, Avalon, Ocean City, North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, Cape May, Beach Haven, Surf City,) are some towns of specific interest if that helps. In Utah, Wasatch County, park city

  • Joe, Thanks for hanging in there with me as we sorted out how to proceed on this one. Hopefully, I can wrap up the available information into a neat package that you'll be able to make good use of. However, if anything about my answer strikes you as unclear or incomplete, please don't rate it until you feel you have everything you need. Just post a Request for Clarification to let me know how I can assist you, and I'm at your service. For starters, the federal indexes of housing prices that I mentioned can be accessed here: http://www.ofheo.gov/media/pdf/4q04hpi.pdf Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) March 1, 2005 OFHEO HOUSE PRICE INDEX The beginning of the document is mostly focused on state-wide statistics, but starting on page 21, there is a lot of information about the change in housing prices in cities and areas around cities. Statistics for NJ include Atlantic City and Ocean City. A number of areas in Utah are listed as well. ========== More detailed information for NJ can be found at the site of the New Jersey Association of Realtors, who consolidate home sales information for the state, and regularly publish reports on home prices which can be found here: http://www.njar.com/pressroom_statspub.shtml New Jersey Association of REALTORS Housing Statistics The 2004-4th Quarter stats are here: http://www.njar.com/2004Q4.pdf and include detailed home price information for many communties throughout the state, including: Ocean County Jersey Shore Cape May and the South Jersey Shore ========== The Utah Association of REALTORS maintains a similar page at: http://www.utahrealtors.com/quarterly/mktrpts.htm MARKET REPORTS and their most recent report for 2004 is here: http://www.utahrealtors.com/quarterly/year2004.htm Year End 2004 Market Report It includes information on the Park City Area: Homes sold: 2003 -- 783 2004 -- 960 22.61% increase Avg price: 2003 -- $477k 2004 -- $605k 26.83% increase Information on earlier years are also available at the site. ========== Lastly, there is the homes-for-sale price information that I mentioned. Head to Yahoo Real Estate at: http://realestate.yahoo.com/ and enter the locality of interest to you by zip, city name, etc. This will pull up a list of houses for sale in that community...you can see all houses for sale, or specify the number of bedrooms, baths, etc. http://saltlakecityogden.idx.4utahhomes.com/results.aspx?&VIP=Yahoo!+IDX&cc=realestate&fclose=n&newhome=n&za=and&fullnodeid=750007014&searchgeo=Park+City%2c+UT&searchtype=2&propertytype=1&sort=5&sortacdc=desc&firstrecord=0 There are 120 properties listed, such as this little hideaway: 69 White Pine Canyon Road, Park City, UT 84060 Bedrooms: 14 Bathrooms: 22 Sq Ft: 33,000 $25,000,000 I'm going to snap it up, if you don't! Well, I hope these various information sources do the trick. But as I said earlier, if there's anything else you need, just let me know. All the best, pafalafa-ga search strategy: Mostly used bookmarked resources, although also searched for [ Utah Association Realtors ]

  • By the way, you CAN get asking prices of homes for sale anywhere in the US. This is obviously different that getting info on actual sale prices, but as it's easier to get the "for sale" asking price, I thought it worthwhile pointing this out. paf

  • this would be of interest, so send me how to get access to this info....but I would like to see if any thing similar is available on a commercial not necessarily a governmental basis...i am thinking the commercially available info might be a little more useful...also specifically i am looking for real estate values / tranaction prices for Sea Isle City, Avalon and North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest all in NJ as well as Park City Utah Hope this helps Joe

  • yes the national indexed data -- along with the more detailed NJ data will meet my needs for now... also one last question...can i just get recorded sale pricing publicly? i was thinking of getting a download or editing cutting and pasting into excel and then filtering manually for the specific info i was looking for...anything you have again at least on a county level but preferably by township...along with the two links suggested above.( total of 3 sources) will answer my questions...

  • Joe, The US government produces a quarterly index of housing prices that may meet your needs. However, there are some limits to the information you should be aware of upfront: --it's an index (percent change), rather than actual price information --it covers states and cities, but won't provide information on each and every locality that might be of interest to you, nor does it have county-level information. For instance, the index shows that prices in the Philadelphia area have trended as follows: Increase in the past year: 14.12% Increase in the last quarter of 2004: 1.13% Increase in the past 5 years: 61.32% The trends in Philadelphia are available back to 1976, if such a long history is of interest to you. A few cities in Utah are listed (Ogden, Logan, Salt Lake) but I didn't see a Utah Park city anywhere. Let me know if this would be of interest to you as an answer to your question. pafalafa-ga

  • Joe, We're close to an answer...but not quite there yet. You asked: >>...also one last question...can i just get recorded sale pricing publicly...<< This sort of information is SOMETIMES available, but it depends in large measure on where, exactly, you want the information for. If you give me the names of two or three counties of interest, I can try to find if local information is available. As a general rule, access to house price info is very variable from place to place, so it's better to specify exactly where you want the information for, than to ask, generically, if such information might be accessible. Looking forward to hearing back from you. paf

  • Hello Joe, Before I give you the link to the national database I mentioned, I just want to make sure I can provide information that fully answers your question. There is, in fact, a commercial source of information that has the numbers you need, but unfortunately, it is only available to real estate professionals, and then, usually only on a local-area or statewide basis. However, some state real estate associations do collect and make publicly available local-level statistics. I didn't see any for Utah, but for New Jersey some fairly detailed reports are available, mostly at a county level, as well as for some regions in the state. For instance, housing price trends between 2003 and 2004 for the South Jersey Shore were reported as: Median housing price............Number houses sold 2003 -- $172,000................1,276 2004 -- $216,500................1,246 25.7% increase in housing prices, for the South Jersey shore. The data are available back to 2001. Would the national indexed data -- along with the more detailed NJ data -- meet your needs as an answer to your question? Let me know. pafalafa-ga
