  • im really scared of flying.
    everyyear i go to disneyland paris
    which is and hour on a plane
    i used to be fine but now i get really paniky
    its since 9/11
    im flying a week tomorow how can i calm myself down on the flight with out taking medication. ?


  • take over the counter Benadryl an hour prior departure, and you will be fine.


  • you have to take chances. just sit back and read a book. flying is a lot safer than driving.


  • 1. Take the EuroStar. You can get pretty inexpensive tickets (from £59) Of course that presumes you live in the UK...

    2. Keep a bottle or 2 of water around (I'm sure the flight attendant will have some, if overpriced); if you start breathing really fast, or feeling panicked, just drink from it; it will help you calm down. Also, try bringing along a book or puzzle book or something to distract you.

    If you start getting anxious, use some self talk; your anxiety is all in your head - nobody else on the plane is getting worked up, are they? Remind yourself there is a reason for that - nothing bad is going to happen. And even if it does, deal with it when it happens, instead of getting all worked up about something you probably can't change.

    I used to have bad anxiety problems myself, so I know how you feel. Just think of all the passengers they carry on a annual basis, and how the 'bad spots' make the news simply because there are so few of them.
