» Why did they change from Bombay to Mumbai?
Bombay was the name of the city when India was a colony of Great Britain. Now that they are an independent country, they are allowed to express their own culture and such and call it by the real name. Actually, I've just read about it, because I was interested in this question too. The city was never called Mumbai before, nor the location was called Mumbai. The place was called Bom Bahia - Good bay by Portuguese, then the English came and practically built the city and called it Bombay (that's how they changed Portuguese name). Then contemporary activists group decided that it should be called Mumbai in honour of goddess Mumba. They claimed that it was original name, where in reality it never was. And the author even mentions that...... - 2010-03-16

» XBMC won't play AVI over SMB
Hi I have read a few threads about this issue, but I haven't been able to find a clear response, so here goes... I recently moved all of my video files off of my Windows Vista PC onto a Terastation NAS. I can connect to the NAS via SMB and browse files, but many of the files simply wont play. They can't even be selected from the list of files ie I try to click on them and nothing happens at all - the file doesn't even start to open. Strangely, some files seem to work. It's not a file size issue. I think it might be something to do with file permissions, but not sure. Any help most appreciated. Thank you for your help.Almost guaranteed to be permissions issues, yes. A debuglog will confirm that.Thank you for your reply. Is there...... - 2010-03-16

» My knee slides out of place?
The first time it happened I was 15 and it would happen every once in a great while when I was kneeling or squatting down, or even just sitting down on the floor, a great amount of pain would shoot through my right knee and I couldn't move it. I'd have to force myself to slowly straighten it and I could feel it slide back into place and it would be sore but I could move it again. I'm 20 and it happens less frequently then it used to but I want to know why it happens and how I can stop it.You have what's called sublexing patellas. The kneecap slides out of the groove. It's very common in teenagers (especially girls) It happens because of a muscle imbalance. Usually the strong quad muscle pulls the kneecap off to t...... - 2010-03-16
» What is the deal with people celebrating 2 week, 3 month, 4 month anniversaries etc?
Don't people understand why people do this, I mean doesn't anyone know what anniversary means? Why is it such a big deal that a couple makes it 2 weeks and then has to celebrate it? Is it that hard to actually only celebrate what the word actually indicates? I don't know maybe I am just annoyed about it. It isn't my wife or me that do this but everyone else we know, but why?haha. its cause they are surprised that the relationship lasted that long.I don't really know either. As an adult in an 8+ year relationship this seems rather silly to me, but maybe such time scales and milestones are important when you are much younger. Some people get carried away when they are happy. » Microsoft Office 12 will be Office 2007
Thanks to Steven Bink for this news update on Office 12. Well I saw Office 12 demo's at IT Forum where the apps were named Office 2007, also as mentioned earlier on Bink.nu, the name change of all office apps now have the name Office in them. So "Microsoft Office Word" and not "Microsoft Word" Now with Office Online Beta the name Office 2007 appears again, so we can expect to launch as Office 2007. I also saw Exchange 12 as Exchange 2007, this might change to Exchange 2008 cause it will be released in Q1 2007. On the other hand marketing would like to see the names in sync. Nice detail is that the binaries for Exchange 12 are 8.0 while Exchange 2003 are 6.5. 7.0 had codename Kodiak and was cancelled. Source:http://neowin.net/ind...... - 2010-03-16
» Why is the sky/ocean blue?
Why is the sky blue? if it is a reflection of the ocean, then why is the ocean blue? it cant be reflecting the sky because the sky reflects the ocean. What about if the oceans are polluted, how come it is still blue??The water and sky both absorb all colors except for blue. The blue is reflected from the particles that make up the sky. This reflection enters your eye and is translated as blue. It's just a bunch of particles reflecting color! Most of the time the ocean appears to be blue because this is the color our eyes see. But the ocean can be many other colors depending upon particles in the water, the depth of the water, and the amount of skylight. The colors we see depend upon the reflection of the visible wavelengths of light ...... - 2010-03-16
» PS3 pic faked?
hell... a new one  (fake pic of ps3 or ....) http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/images/ps3-pdfsm.jpg For a start, the use of the phrase "PlayStation 3" on the slide is unusual, since Sony has been carefully avoiding using that phrase in association with its next-generation console, and sources close to the company - including graphics chip manufacturer NVIDIA - have stated that the system will not be called that. The presence of a UMD bay is also peculiar; it's labelled as "PS3 / PSP UMD MediaMove" in the picture, which suggests that it would be a drive for writing UMDs as well as reading them, but Sony has so far been hugely resistant to that concept. Indeed, the company is so determined not to allow people to write to UMD dis...... - 2010-03-16

» Choosing between San Diego State and San Jose State for MS Chemistry
I am Bachelors in Pharmacy from India and my husband works in San Jose as a SAP Consultant. He has been here for the last 5 years but has the luxury to move any where as he flies to his job on Mondays and comes back on Thu/Fri I am planning to go for MS in Chemistry and after that pursue the career in Pharmaceutical Companies. I have offers from SDSU and SJSU. SDSU also has the offer for TA which is great. Now I am confused - if I go to SDSU we will be spending almost nothing for my 2 years in the school but will have to uproot and settle there. Benefit of SJSU is that we are living close to it and almost nothing changes. But I will be paying for the complete education. Another factor to consider is that at SJSU I have 2 pre-req...... - 2010-03-16

» Can we install MySQL on the same server as MS-SQL?
Worried about file associations and file sharing, etc. That is, I don't want to share or screwup files used/associated with MS-SQL (which is in use and is fairly large at this point) and MySQL, which has not been installed yet. This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm not an admin. Are we gonna run into conflicts/crashes by putting both databases on the same server? I ask because, well, I wanna keep my head. Sometimes I use it! :DI don't think MySQL deals with file associations, and it uses it own's files, so I doubt there will be sharing conflicts. The only thing to look for is the ports used. MySQl defaults to port 3306, and I haven't got a clue which ports MS-SQL uses. But why on earth would you use both on one system?...... - 2010-03-16

The labelling function is not working correctly. One page Avery and other labels spill over to a second page. I've tried adjusting the standard document template - this does not solve the misfunction. Can anyone help ?petert12-ga: For a problem such as this, the most likely culprit is a difference between the printer's non-printable areas, and the non-printable areas recognized by Word (as supplied to it by the printer driver). Adjusting the document template can often fix this, but the best thing to do is to start with your printer's manual, look up the non-printable areas, and ensure that the margins used by both Word and the printer driver are at least as large as the non-printable areas. I am running XBMC as my default dashboard (T3CH XBMC 2008-04-20 SVN rev12746-REPACK). I am sharing my movies over LAN via SMB. My PC is running XP Home and I had numerous problems getting this to work. I found the only way was to automatically assign an IP address and enable DHCP. My question is (after searching numerous threads) can I create a shortcut to my shares, so when I click on Movies from the home menu it automatically in 1 step shows me my shared folders??. Hi Billboardhunk Thanks for the history. But we are not criticizing Digit because it's an Indian brand. Whatever happened to CHIP is history. What we want is that the standard of Digit should be improved. For a long time people have been demanding indiviual review of the items rather than clubbing everything together. Then there issues like having models on the cover page. I guess that having models on the cover page would increase the price which could have been used for some articles. What do you think companies here are for. ICICI or whatever they are here to make money. What about an Indian brand. What do you think had an Indian brand done had it been in the same shoes. » I am thinking about remodeling and designing my room any tips....expecially on furniture, not too expensive!!!!?
thanx. and not too fancy either just for a teenIf you're near any Ikea, head there for furniture. It is much better quality than what they sell at target and wal-mart for the same price. Some tips to remember when buying furniture. One: for a bed, get a bed that is also a desk, it looks like a bunk bed with a desk underneath. Very affordable and very space cautious. Two: by a versatile color that will match with everything. My furniture is a dark dark dark blackish brown. It matches with practically every color I've seen it with. Three: Check ALL stores. Sad to say, Ikea may be a little pricey but it's worth the money because it lasts for a while. Depending on your style preferences you will choose the color on your own. I ch...... - 2010-03-16
» Is the death rate higher in certain months or seasons than others?
If so, is the trend the same for countries in both the northern and southern hemispheres, or is it the opposite, i.e. seasonal?I think that the rate increases during Winter months in some countries as elderly people succumb to the cold with hypothermia.Well, it depends on what death rate...suicide? murder? natural causes? disease? In winter, with inclement weather (car accidents, slips-and-falls), depression (around holidays); flu and pnuemonias; fires due to faulty wiring in heating sources, christmas trees and lighting; drinking and driving (to-and-from holiday parties), I would guess that the overall death rate in the US is most likely higher in the colder climes than in the warmer climes, for the reasons stated above... However, warme...... - 2010-03-16

What are the problems and benefits from an employee's point of view if a company is going to implement a just in time manufacturing program?Transitioning from a traditional manufacturing approach to a just-in-time manufacturing approach has a number of problems and benefits for employees. First, there is usually a need to change policies and procedures. Because many people do not like to change, this can be stressful to employees. Second, in many respects, just-in-time manufacturing is far more demanding of employees than the conventional approach. Wondering if there are any good ways to improve conditiong for pre-puberty boys (u-9 to u-13). I know it is not good to simply run them. I don't know if it will do any good seeing as people still don't search when posting about flash related things, but it seems to work very well over at the-next level.nice idea, but people here don't read anything before they hit the "new thread" button... :beam: Revhttp://aulman.com/rev.gif...... - 2010-03-16
» Is it normal for a two week year old to have a whitish discharge from the vagina?
My two week year old daughter is having a discharge come out of her vagina, like women have before they start their period. Is this normal or should I be worried?do you mean 2 week old or 2 year old? Edit: ah yes, Ella had that at about 2/3 weeks old too. Just happened once, never again!Totally normal. She's still got hormones in her body that came from you during pregnancy/birth, so it's perfectly okay. I'm surprised the L&D nurse didn't tell you this so you wouldn't worry.2 week old or 2 year old? IF 2 week old yes. I thought the same thing when I had my daughter. The nurse told me in a nutshell it is your hormones being excreted through your daughter. It is normal, it will go away. You can also use a q-tip...... - 2010-03-16

I've wondered how many people feel like I do on this issue and what others feel in general who are at least serious hobbyists and not tyros who do nothing but point and shoot, like a person I met not long ago who had a Nikon F4 because it was the best camera he could buy at the time buy had never changed a control since the store put it on full auto for him. These are my feelings and mine only, you may agree, disagree, or a little of both as you see fit, I just would like to know your thoughts...and why. AE: I use it a lot, especially matrix metering. » How little calories can a person eat per day, while working out, and still be relatively healthy?
I am 5'9", 295 lbs and I am trying to lose weight. I plan on limiting my caloric intake to about 1400 a day. Is this too little? I plan on doing cardio 3 times a week, and strength training 5 times a week. Most diets reccomend at least 1200 calories a day to lose weight..Once you lose the weight a few more calories is necessary to sustain the weight. Depends on the diet. If you do heavy workouts a few more calories will be needed. For women it's 1200 calories a day and for men it is 1800 calories a day. On strength training, do it only 3 days a week. That is if you are using weights. You people are undereating. With that amount of exercise, something like 2500 - 3000 would be maintenance. I am moving this to the Server Configuration forum. The COUNT query to list out the number of pages causes the query to be slow. what is that supposed to mean? and when should it be used? It's a cute saying. However, Angels are created beings and no one develops into an angel. They have been angels ever since creation. Period. Personally I would avoid the expression and it should not be used. Gives people a really messed up idea about angels. It comes from the movie "It's a Wonderful Life". At the end, the little girl says "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings".

The presence of a UMD bay is also peculiar; it's labelled as "PS3 / PSP UMD MediaMove" in the picture, which suggests that it would be a drive for writing UMDs as well as reading them, but Sony has so far been hugely resistant to that concept. Now I am confused - if I go to SDSU we will be spending almost nothing for my 2 years in the school but will have to uproot and settle there.

I get really angry at certain times, even if it's not a big deal at all. I also have problems emotionally. Not mentally, emotionally. You know, like I feel sad/depressed alot and it just causes a bunch of stress for me. But I've also from time to time, felt pains in the area of my heart, also shortness of breath alot. I just need to know, at the age of only 20, can these things still cause a heart attack?Yes. I had a big arguement with my boss. I had been biting my tongue for about 8 years with him. One day i just couldn't hold it in any longer. years of anger came pouring out ove...... - 2010-03-16
» Word in MS Office XP
» Shortcut to Movies - SMB Share
Hi All, This is my 1st post on the forum and I am new to the whole XBMC community. I am wrapped with the xbox that I softmodded myself (Krayzies Endure) and then FTP'ed XBMC to the xbox. Instead of clicking the following: - - Workgroup - Network - Computer Name ...... - 2010-03-16
» The Digit Story
Hi Billboardhunk Thanks for the history. But we are not criticizing Digit because it's an Indian brand. Whatever happened to CHIP is history. What we want is that the standard of Digit should be improved. For a long time people have been demanding indiviual review of the items rather than clubbing everything together. Then there issues like having models on the cover page. I guess that having models on the cover page would increase the price which could have been used for some articles. What do you think companies here are for. ICICI or whatever they are here to make money. What about an Indian brand. What do you think had an Indian brand done had it been in the same shoes. The question to be answered is Which is your computing ma...... - 2010-03-16

Hello, im new to the forums. I used to have a EOS10D years back, which ive basicly used as a point and shoot using the auto settings.Recently i purchased a Olympus E3, and im finding out its a totally new ball game.

Eyed the EOS 1 series.... but was way over my budget at the moment. Couldn't afford the Elan either. An EOS 5 (A2E) came along my way. $219 (ebay). I don't know if thats a lot for this machine. Anyways, I'm glad. Looks like my 10D's sibling... but a lot lighter. And for THE first time I saw 'normally' thru the 50mm :). Have heard lots about the 50mm being the 'normal' lens. I love this lens! Its a happy evening! Don't know nothing about the basic operations!! :) Couple of dumb queries for starters: 1. Don't it have an On/Off button??:) Or does it turn on when you load the film in? 2. The instruction book said that the equipment will automatically selet the film speed setting. I'm taking A-Level Biology and Maths definately. Probably Psychology but I'm stuck between Chemistry and Spanish. I don't particularly want to do Chemistry as it's not very appealing. » Implementing just-in-time manufacturing
"Just-in-time as a production planning philosophy aimed at reducing work in process inventories to the bare minimum." Wondering if there are any good ways to improve conditiong for pre-puberty boys (u-9 to u-13). I know it is not good to simply run them. Any good practice drills that really keep them working and force them to sprint a great deal. If you have any individual, 1v1, or small group (4v4) drills they would be appreciated.i assume you are talking about the first 15-20 mins of your session. sorta depends on the theme of your session. i still like gates the best. randomly arrange cones about 2-3 ft apart in an area about 30x30 or 40x 40 yds. then they have to perform a specific move at each gate, then *explode* to the next gate--each move is run about 45 seconds, then shout out another move. i run this about 10 mins at a moderate jog w/ s...... - 2010-03-16

On strength training, do it only 3 days a week. That is if you are using weights. You people are undereating. With that amount of exercise, something like 2500 - 3000 would be maintenance.
